Question by loutx2: How long will a redheaded woodpecker live?
I have a big redheaded woodpecker that lives behind my house and it eats seeds from the bird feeder. I really enjoy watching it. It has been there for 3 years at least. How long redheaded woodpeckers live? I have never seen the female woodpecker. I assume the male has the redhead. But I don’t know. Do they have nests? I have never seen any babies either. Just this on big redheaded woodpecker every day for 3 years.

Woodpeckers on everage can live up to about 10-15 years so you should be seeing him around for a long time. They are amazing birds.. And yes they do have nests but bear in mind that it is in a tree somwhere where the male has pecked a hole and nested.

If there are no babies then he probably doesnt have a mate.

And i think you are bieng very kind to give him food every day;)

We always see a green anole on our porch. I don’t want to catch it, I just want to do what I can to make it like the natural area around my porch so it likes to live around there. Kind of like when people have a bird feeder or hummingbird garden or something.

AN ole.
They want some cover like trees or bushes and some yummy bugs to eat – the occasional mosquito of fly. They don’t need any special food. They find their own bugs.

I visited Hong Kong 36 years ago and absolutely loved the place. That was before the theme parks were built, but I enjoyed the shopping and touring and would love to go back.

I see no problems with your English. Next school year my wife and I will host a foreign exchange student from Hong Kong, a girl who uses the Western name “Karen.” She will be our sixth foreign exchange student, and our second one from Hong Kong.

We are currently hosting a boy from Germany and another from Korea. Our German is our third German student. The second was a girl who was with us when we hosted the girl from Hong Kong.

If you want to become more conversant in English consider studying in the U.S. or Britain, Australia or New Zealand.

Question by Ann_Girl_619: How can i get my girlfriend to help me with our screaming bird?
0My girlfriend bought me a pet cockateil as a pet for christmas, a very touching and expencive gift. I had only had parakeets before and did not know what i was getting into. Since then my bird has picked an extreamly bad habit , namely high picthed screaming that can be heard outside our building! I have found training to try and remidy that behavior but the problem now lies in her. To stop the screaming she hates we both have to ignore the bird some thing she can not do. Often she ends up screaming at him to “shut up”
which just furthers the problem as he takes it as an attencion reward for his poor behavior. What can i suggest for her to do to cool down her firey temper at the bird when he is so hard to ignore?

I have a White Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia Nicolai) that I got from Lowes. It is a small plant not too large, with about 6-7 leaves. Recently I have started to notice that the second set of leaves from the bottom are starting to turn yellow. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

The plant you have is just a baby. It is unlikely to flower for a several years, and it will need full sun to induce flowering. I looked it up online, and found it can grow 20 to 30 feet tall and 6 to 10 feet wide in zone 10 (southern Florida and southern California). If you are able to plant it outside make sure it has room to spread.

The first article states that this plant is sensitive to salt, so if your water is salty, or you are using water-soluble fertilizer, then the yellowing may be due to salt poisoning. Better to use rain water or distilled water. Most potting soil has little if any nutritive value, so mix soil from your yard with the potting soil when you re-pot. Do not use Miracle Gro potting soil as the included fertilizer is in salt form. The plant also does not like to stay wet, so allow the soil to dry between watering. Over watering is the most common cause of houseplant death.
