Ringneck Parakeet

Following their escape from aviaries around London, Ring-neck Parakeet’s have now established large wild colonies. The birds now number in their hundreds within these colonies and they are now spreading across the south east of England. Ring-necks are very beautiful and make lots of noise when flying, in time they find feeding stations, bird feeders and bird tables in gardens, It’s great to see such an ‘exotic’ bird come down to feed. But what affect will they have on our native bird-life. I have seen no change as yet & other birds will feed along side them. Only time will tell.

i love birds

I`m deeply shaken by the advice that as from next year you will be permitted to kill them. Given a choice,i`d rather have Parakeets than pigeons-much livelier and more cheerful to look at.

The music is so adorable. xD Just like the birdy.

I didn’t know that,I think of warm climates when I think of India, I have had Zippy for 4 yrs. now,he is great and can talk almost as well as my African Grays can. Your lucky to have these wild ones ti watch,I hope nobody ever culls them. There are other ways of keeping birds out of crops.

Hi, glad you like the video. Our winter weather dose not worry them, they are native to northen India and live at fairly high altitude around the snow line. In this part of England ( just south of London ) we don’t get many days of realy cold weather just a lot of rain but very little frost and snow. Now they have finished nesting, we see flocks of ringnecks of up to 30 at a time flying over the garden and there is one group living on Esher Common of over 1,000 birds.
good luck with your pet

How do they survive the cold English winters ? I love Ring Necks,I have one,he’s so funny.

Hi, I’m glad that someone out there has heard of Isao Tomita. I first started to listen to his music in the mid 70′s and have every album up to date some on vinyl others on CD and MP3′s, Call me sad, but I love the way he makes the synthasizer come to life. all in all a great artist.
